the clippers game

decided to take a few gc guys to the clippers game last night. my boss has been telling its fun and cheap, so i said what the hay, lets go. drove down to the grove, picked up the twins and texas and headed to huntington park. this place was unreal, i agree with the critics, it might be the best ballpark is all of pro baseball right now. $6 for standing room tickets is great, you are only 17 rows up from the field; this is far better than sitting in the nose bleed at great american for $5. the concession prices were reasonable, and thank god they serve pepsi. oh, and the clippers won.

highlights:
-we got there early, so there was a pre-game concert, the leader singer, a lady, was terrible, we laughed at her (too loud probably)
-watched some guy get drilled in the eye by a foul ball, the system for needing ems when someone is injured is quite simple, just wave your hat in a circular motion
-found some girl from gc whose dad paid $100 for four tickets for first row seats, it was her younger brother's bday and they were sold out, so daddy bought the kid $25/person tickets
-made fun of pawtucket fans and players all night
-after the 6th inning for first row seats (a section over from our friend and her family) for free
-dropped my sunglasses on the field
-watched some cameraman have a heartattack (this what the drunk guys next to us told us) and the game got delayed for 20 minutes
-asked the left outfielder for a ball for three staight innings (never got one)
-watched two old men get hammered and look like fools
-oh and the clippers won.

moral of the story, GO!

crazy week

this week may have been one of the more crazier weeks i have had in quite some time, whats more crazy is that for some people this would have been a slow week.

wednesday at club was the most discombobulated young life event i have been at in eight years, or since my introduction to the ministry. i'm out some money, someone lit off a stink bomb, no planing was done; it was awesome.

got to go back out to VA this weekend. we, dylan and i, accomplished our goal of finding the memorial tunnel (now my life is complete). but, as soon as you cross over the river into wv, you come into ravenswood. ravenswood has a town slogan: where character counts. this might be the most embrassing thing i have ever seen a town display, this town wants to be remembered by their citizens' character, strange.

hidden secrets

have you ever been living somewhere for an extended period of time and not known about fun things to do around you? its been four years of living in columbus and finally while wrapping up my senior year of college i have started to "explore" columbus and done some pretty fun things around the city, that shake up the normal, boring college life. even if you get drunk every night of the week, its still boring...so here is a list of fun things i have gotten to do this year.

-buckeye baseball games. osu students get into mens baseball games for free and there are good, ranked nationally this year. food is cheaper than football games and all the seats are amazing.
-funny bone comedy club at easton. a good date place if your 21+, quality humor and cheap if you get tickets through osu.
-big bang bar in the arena district. live dueling piano music, an awesome experience if your 21+; but, a bit of a hit in the wallet.
-driving around columbus at night, driving through uptown westerville or through bexley/downtown at night is beautiful.
-$3 burgers at brazenhead wednesdays....best burgers in town.

do it. go outside of the bubble.

fmylife.com

***Caution: Some of this post is for a PG-13 audience***

my friend alex introduced me the most re
volutionary website last week: fmylife.com

here are some of favorite stories:

Today, I received my passport in the mail. They got my birthdate wrong. Then I picked up my birth certificate that I had sent in with the application. Turns out my parents have been celebrating my birthday on the wrong day for 16 years. FML

Today, this really attractive woman that I've known for years told me that when I can have sex with her standing up, she'll have sex with me. I'm confined to a wheelchair. FML

Today, my mom : "You and your dad like all the same foods right? Try this for me", she then proceeds to give me a strawberry flavored jelly. I say that it tastes good and ask what she gave me. "It's my new nipple cream, I want to surprise your dad tonight." FML

Today, I had drunk sex with a girl that I barely know. I didn't have a condom and was nervous about getting her pregnant, but she assured me that I could pull out. Right when I was about to pull out, she wrapped her legs around me and yelled "BE MY BABY'S DADDY!" I couldn't get out in time. FML

Today, my first girlfriend of over 3 years left me for another guy. She said she's looking for someone who can financially provide for her in the future. The dude owns a T-Mobile kiosk. I'm going to medical school. FML

Today, I checked my facebook, and my wife of 5 years was listed as single. I then write on her wall that it is ok to announce to be married. She writes back saying that we have to talk and to come to the kitchen. My wife divorced me over facebook. FML

Today, it's my 18th birthday. My parents got me a $5 gift certificate to Itunes. It came for free with the iPhone they just bought my sister for her middle school graduation. FML

the oval

i have come to love the oval at ohio state this year. i hate some of the stuff that goes on at the oval, but from a sociological perspective it is fascinating. strangers cross paths and impact lives forever. random convos start about religion, a stranger tosses another stranger his frisbee back, a man brings his dog with him to hit on cute girls, tour groups walk through and high school kids wish they had this everyday, coupons and fliers are distributed, free crap is handed out to poor college. it is freakin awesome to see the exchange of goods and services that occur on this plot of land, that hasnt been comprised in decades.

as i eluded to earlier, there are some things i hate about the oval:
-stupid, dumb campus "preachers", these guys (for the most part) are terrible and give the worst image of christianity to non-believersl i find their christianity unappealing and univiting
-i am sick and tired of usg people standing there begging you to vote for them
-the biggest issue is these crazy college girls that lay out on the oval in their bikinis and just seek the attention of guys. it is odd, i didnt see any sand on the oval or any water, so what makes it okay to lay out there...go to mirror lake where you can jump in when it gets too hot. (side note: i was talking to my mom about this, she is very modest, but she sees nothing wrong with this, she said she use to lay out in the quads at bg, i was stunned and threw up in my mouth a little, i still love you though mom)

side notes:
went home for easter, best decision of my college carrer
made two sweet youtube videos this week
ate a lot of wendys double stacks this week, the are awesome
and, a stranger thought my friend and i were dating, we laughed at him

a great week

after a rough spring break, this week has been very refreshing and exciting, lets break it down by day:

monday: new quarter = new work hours = new friendships with folks at oxbn. 8 hrs there in one day is rough

tuesday: my last quarter of classes could have no been complete without a class taught by lindsey jones, this is the third class i have had with this guy...tough but fun

wednesday: photo scavagener hunt with GCHS YL. this was one of the best nights i have ever had being in grove city.

thursday: i found out one of my classes consists of revising a paper i have already written and turning that in, what a breeze.

friday: no work. no class. (every friday). ps. i havent had friday class since my freshman year of college

saturday: my coleader got married, lauren hoxie is now lauren perry. it was a great wedding, awesome party afterwards.

sunday: placement day. it was a pleasure to welcome ben pappalardo and erin gerber to team grove city, its was fun to hang out with them and it will be a blast to watch them grow at gc.

spring break 09

i have never had an actual spring break, you know the ones where college students go to florida and lay on the beach for a week and get drunk every night...ya, that has never been me. its weird to think that next year there will not be this designating week set off in my schedule to permit traveling or relaxing; college does not do a great job of preparing you for real world life. alright, so if i have never gone anywhere fancy before...what did i do for four years?

freshman yr: went home and worked
sophomore yr: went home and worked
junior yr: sat on my ass in columbus and attempted to be better young life leader
senior yr: 1. went to rockbridge to work a weekend and do some training 2. saw two dead people on the highway (this is perhaps the craziest thing ever) 3. cleaned my house 4. cooked food 5. went home to see my puppy and the folks 6. ate at the jug (thank god john ridge has too much money).

spring break has always been overrated in my book, i got paid money for my break. and, i love cooking for people; the idea of entraining others is fun for me, i enjoy it (almost too much). just ten more weeks of classes and daddy's health insurance is done, oh the joys of college being over.
